About

THE SKI GARAGE. Outfitting ski families since 2007 !!

It’s not just a garage. It’s a movement.
A movement away from high markups and huge advertising budgets.
A movement towards families being able to ski together again, and still have money left over for lunch.

At the Ski Garage, we believe that skiing is a great family sport that everyone should be able to participate in. We’ll bring you the best deals AND service around, and help your family  get out and enjoy winter.

Get to know the Garage – you’ll be dealing with the people who have the most fun for the least amount of money of anyone you know.

Shayne and his awesome kids have been Ski Garage customers since the very beginning. Thanks Shayne! And all of my new and repeat customers! Ski Garage customers are the best.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) Where do you get all these skis?

We very carefully select the best gear from top-notch rental and demo shops.  Most gear we buy has only been used for two years. It is in great usable condition and ready for many more years of enjoyment, and also costs literally a fraction of it’s retail value. Usually our gear ends up being priced  about one-tenth the cost of what it was new.

1a) Why don’t you advertise your location?

The Ski Garage really is in our garage. Our awesome City Council was kind enough to grant us a conditional use permit to sell you skis out of our garage. BUT, they said, no publishing your address! Please call or text for the address (text is faster). It’s kind of fun being the secret spot for folks “in the know.”

2) Do you have a restroom I can use?

There is a restroom at the Chevron about 1 minute away that is very clean and nice. Pick up some snacks for us while you’re there!

3) Do you ship?

Our prices are truly  “locals specials.” Shipping gear is just not really what we do here. People understandably want detailed pictures of each ski, and we just don’t have time for that – it is just better to come and see the skis.

4) I have no idea what size skis to get. Can you help me figure that out?

YES. We’ll get your kid the right size ski (and encourage you to NOT get a longer ski so that it will “last” a couple years), and also get a comfortable boot that will fit all season long (and not grow out of).  After asking lots of questions about how and where an adult skis, we can figure out the length and type of ski for you too!

5) Are your prices negotiable?

At the Ski Garage, we strive to bring you the best deals available.  Every item we offer has been carefully and fairly priced based on our cost of goods and minimal overhead.  We do not believe in, and will never implement, an arbitrary or unreasonable markup.

Also, a unique aspect of our business is our cat rescue, “Ear Tip Ranch,” which is a sanctuary for the life-long care of feral and otherwise-unadoptable cats.  A percentage of Garage profits is dedicated to this mission. If you think we are WAY off in our price, based on comparative prices or condition of the product- feel free to let me know! Otherwise, negotiating just for the fun of it makes our cats cry.  To find out more about our ranch and the cats that benefit from the Ski Garage, check out https://eartipranch.org/

6) Do you own this whole field next to the house?

No. We don’t.  Those are our horses and mules though.

7) Why does your cat have only one eye ?

His name is Big Man. He is a retired cat General, serving in several cat skirmishes, battles, and all-out wars, and has been awarded several honors for valor, commitment, and courage. He is trying to put his past behind him, and now that he has a comfortable home, all he really wants in life is petting and Fancy Feast. If he is startled or asked too many questions, his PTSD can act up. So, just keep in mind that freedom is not free, and serving as Dictator of an entire cat colony can have it’s costs.

  1. This business and these people are what “community service” is all about!!!!! It is a business where people, family, and quality of life are put before profit. This is what business should be.

  2. Don’t doubt the “Garage” for a minute, these folks are no nonsense and no joke! If you value your dollars for winter lift prices, but want to ski on great gear that isn’t 10 years old? GET THERE! Thank you sooooo much for helping me get back on the slopes after 15 years, I’ve been 14 times this year already, and I don’t plan on stopping now. You’ve got a loyal customer here, for life! 🙂

  3. Thanks for hooking me and my boy up with some great gear and great prices! Looking forward to getting out this winter! Let it snow!

  4. My family has been coming back to the Ski Garage for years. Their prices are great, but more importantly they know their gear, even for a ski family that is just starting out. We started out as beginners, and loved it so much that we have gotten better and keep going in to upgrade our gear- and also to get bigger sizes for the kids. It’s nice to be able to get everything at once, have lots of great help, AND save money. THANK YOU

  5. grabbed gear for my 3 girls 2 years in a row now. Great way to buy gear that kids grow out of rather than buying new. Great services.

  6. Stopped in last year with my 4 kids (11,14,16,17). They spent quality time fitting them and teaching us all how to size skiis and poles. We walked out of there with skis, poles, boots for everyone for much cheaper than I expected. My son outgrew his boots this season and they exchanged them for a small fee for a nicer pair than he had before. I will go back again and again and always recommend them to my neighbors and friends.

  7. Best local ski deals without question. Great people and a great service. The ability to return gear and get credit (particularly for kids gear) keeps us coming back.
